How to Verify an EASA Form 1 or FAA 8130-3 Certificate Online
Many aircraft parts travel with an authorized release certificate — an EASA Form 1 or FAA 8130-3. But a document is only useful if you can trust it. Paperwork can be lost, photocopied, or forged, and a forged certificate is one of the hardest risks to catch by eye. Here is how to verify one properly.
The old way — and why it's slow
Traditionally, verifying a certificate meant calling the issuing organisation, cross-checking approval references, and comparing the document against records — a process that can take days and still relies on trusting a scanned copy.

- 3. Read the result. A certificate unchanged since it was sealed shows green; a withdrawn one clearly shows REVOKED. If even one character of the certificate data or the original PDF has changed since sealing, verification fails.
Why this matters
Because the signature covers both the certificate data and a fingerprint (SHA-256 hash) of the original PDF, any change made after sealing is detected. And because verification runs against publicly published keys, it is independently checkable by anyone in the supply chain — buyer, auditor, or regulator.

What should I check on the certificate itself?
Check that the part number, serial number and quantity match the part. Check block 11 for the status (for example NEW or OVERHAULED), the organisation and its approval number, and the signature and date. On an 8130-3, block 3 holds the form tracking number set by the issuer; a corrected form gets a new tracking number that references the old one.
Does Angad Verified prove a certificate is genuine?
No. It proves the copy you hold matches the one Angad sealed, unchanged. Angad does not issue the certificate. To confirm the issuing organisation holds the approval shown, check its approval number with the authority that granted it (the FAA or EASA).
Can an FAA 8130-3 be signed electronically?
Yes. FAA Order 8130.21J allows the form to be filled out and signed electronically, and AC 43-9D describes electronic signatures for maintenance releases. When printed, it should still be presented as the standard form, so it is recognised and accepted.
