Description
RTV 11 is a two-part condensation-cure silicone that is mixed with a curing agent and vulcanises at room temperature, curing uniformly in depth rather than from the surface inward. It is used as a general-purpose encapsulant and potting compound, giving cured parts a flexible, electrically insulating silicone body that protects components from vibration, moisture and handling damage. It forms part of the RTV 11 / RTV 21 / RTV 41 encapsulant family and carries an FDA reference in the manufacturer's data.

Two-part condensation systems cure throughout the mixed mass, so they will cure in thick, fully enclosed sections where a one-part moisture-cure grade would stall. That makes RTV 11 suitable for potting deep cavities and encapsulating assemblies rather than sealing accessible joints.
What handling points matter most when potting with RTV 11?
Accurate ratio and thorough mixing of base and curing agent, followed by de-airing where voids are unacceptable, since entrapped air in an encapsulant becomes a permanent defect. Condensation cure also releases a volatile by-product, so allow the cured mass to breathe and be aware that cure inhibition can occur on some contaminated substrates.
