Description
RTV 6136 is a two-part addition-cure silicone that cures to a soft dielectric gel rather than a rigid solid, so it protects electronics while imposing very little stress on wire bonds, fine leads and solder joints. Addition cure produces no by-product, allowing it to be poured in deep sections and cured in closed housings. It is referenced against ASTM E595 and is used for potting and encapsulating control modules, sensor packages and power electronics, and belongs to the same family as RTV 6196.

What will stop RTV 6136 from curing?
It is a platinum addition-cure system, so it is vulnerable to cure inhibition. Amine-containing materials, sulfur-cured rubbers, tin-catalysed silicones, some plasticised PVC and certain flux residues can leave the gel tacky or uncured at the interface. Clean the substrate, keep tooling and gloves free of tin-cured silicone, and run a small cure trial on the actual board finish before committing to a production pour.
