Description
A family of high-temperature polycrystalline ceramic (aluminoxide) fibers and textiles that are flexible, lightweight and withstand extreme heat. In aerospace they serve as flame barriers, thermal shields, gaskets, seals, engine firewall/thrust-reverser insulation and spacecraft micrometeorite/debris shields, and as reinforcement in oxide-oxide ceramic matrix composites (Ox-Ox CMC). Available as rovings, yarns, sewing threads, fabrics, tapes, braided sleevings and chopped fiber.
