Description

X-405 is a water-based glass and transparency cleaner from Zip-Chem, approved under the US EPA Safer Choice programme. A clear light-blue liquid with no odour, no flash point and 0 g/L VOC, it relies on surfactants rather than abrasives or harsh solvents to lift contaminants. Zip-Chem states it is safe on aluminium, magnesium, structural metals, quality paints, primers and acrylic plastics.

The manufacturer describes it for aircraft windows, plastic transparencies, instrument panels and EFIS (Electronic Flight Instrument System) displays, with a Collins approval for EFIS. Most packs are ready to use; the concentrate is diluted 50 parts water to 1 part.
