Description
RC-50 is a medium-sensitivity (Level 2) fluorescent penetrant that is not water-washable on its own; excess is removed with a lipophilic (Method B) or hydrophilic (Method D) emulsifier. It meets low sulfur and low halogen requirements and fluoresces yellow-green. Sherwin cites superior heat resistance and a flash point of 230°F (110°C).
The manufacturer describes it for castings, extrusions and similar parts, including aluminium and magnesium, used by aerospace, airframe, turbine engine and missile manufacturers, with ER-83A or ER-85 emulsifiers.
