Description
RTV106 is a one-component, condensation-cure silicone paste that cures on exposure to atmospheric moisture to a red, highly extensible elastomer with good tear resistance. The non-slump paste consistency lets it be applied to vertical and overhead joints without running, which makes it a common choice for gasketing, bonding and sealing around high-temperature equipment, ducting and engine-bay hardware. It is referenced against MIL-A-46106B.

How does RTV106 cure, and does section thickness matter?
It is a one-part condensation system that cures from the exposed surface inward as ambient humidity reaches it, releasing a small-molecule by-product as it does. That means bead and fillet geometry works well but deep, confined or fully enclosed sections will cure slowly or remain uncured in the centre; use a two-part grade where the joint is sealed off from air.
When would I use RTV106 instead of RTV 112?
Both are one-part condensation silicones referenced against MIL-A-46106B, but they differ in rheology and thermal positioning. RTV106 is a non-slump paste for vertical, overhead and gap-filling work at elevated service temperatures; RTV 112 is self-levelling and belongs on horizontal joints and seams where you want the material to flow out flat on its own.
