Description
RTV 160 is a one-part condensation-cure silicone that flows into place before vulcanising at room temperature on exposure to atmospheric moisture. Its non-corrosive cure makes it suited to bonding, sealing and staking around electronic components, plated contacts and corrosion-sensitive metals where an acetoxy grade would be unsuitable, while the flowable consistency lets it wet into tight gaps rather than sitting proud like a paste. The grade carries UL component recognition in the manufacturer's data.

What makes RTV 160 non-corrosive compared with the acetoxy grades?
It does not release acetic acid during cure, so it avoids the corrosion risk that acetoxy systems present to sensitive metals, plated surfaces and enclosed electronics. That is the main reason to select it over a grade such as RTV 157 or RTV 159 when the bond sits close to electrical contacts.
Is RTV 160 flowable enough for self-levelling application?
It is supplied as a flowable adhesive rather than a thixotropic paste, so it will wet into narrow gaps and level on horizontal surfaces. On vertical or overhead joints it will not hold a bead the way the paste grades do — for those, a non-slumping grade is the better choice.
