Description
Topcoat XS420 is a three-component, high-solids polyurethane topcoat from AkzoNobel with high chemical resistance, UV resistance and fretting resistance. Base, XS420 Hardener and 713 or 713-2 thinner mix 3:1:1 by volume. The data sheet lists VOC of 420 g/L and gloss above 85 GU for black, red and yellow tints and above 90 GU for white and grey.
The manufacturer describes it for structural and external applications on metallic substrates such as steel and aluminium alloys, and as compatible with its SP350 chromate-free epoxy primer.

What primer is used with XS420 topcoat?
AkzoNobel lists XS420 as compatible with its SP350 chromate-free, high-solids epoxy primer. The SP350 data sheet states the primer must be cured at a minimum of 40 °C before XS420 is applied.
How long does XS420 take to cure?
With Thinner 713 the data sheet lists full cure in 7 days at 23 °C or 6 hours at 80 °C; with Thinner 713-2, full cure is 3 days at 23 °C or 3 hours at 80 °C.
