| Compliance | ASTM E595 |
Description
RTV88 is a red, non-slump paste version of the high-temperature red condensation-cure family, cured at room temperature by addition of catalyst. It is used for sealing, filleting and gap filling on vertical, overhead and irregular surfaces where a flowable grade would run, and it carries the longest work life of the red high-temperature grades, which suits large assemblies and extended layup times. Referenced against ASTM E595, with catalyst options available.
Property values are the manufacturer's published datasheet figures for this grade. Confirm against the current Momentive datasheet for your application.

Frequently asked
Why choose RTV88 over the flowable red grades?
Two reasons: consistency and working time. RTV88 is a paste that holds a fillet on vertical and overhead surfaces without slumping, and its work life is substantially longer than RTV31 or RTV60, so larger areas can be sealed from a single mix before the material begins to thicken.
How should RTV88 be applied and de-aerated?
As a filled paste it is normally spatula- or gun-applied rather than poured. Mix catalyst in thoroughly to a uniform colour, since streaks indicate unmixed material that will not cure, and vacuum de-aerate before application if entrapped air in the bond line is a concern for your part.
