Description
RTV60 is a red, flowable two-part condensation-cure silicone that cures at room temperature throughout the section without requiring atmospheric moisture, making it suitable for deep pours and closed cavities. It is used for high-temperature sealing, potting and formed-in-place gaskets where the cured rubber needs better tear and tensile performance than a rigid potting grade offers. Referenced against ASTM E595, with catalyst options available to suit the assembly process.

RTV60 or RTV88 for a vertical joint?
RTV88. RTV60 is flowable and will slump on a vertical or overhead surface, whereas RTV88 is a paste of similar hardness and comparable tear strength intended for non-sag application. Use RTV60 where the material can be poured into a cavity or flow into a joint under gravity.
Does RTV60 need primer for adhesion?
Condensation-cure silicones generally have limited unaided adhesion to metals, composites and many plastics, so a silicone primer and a clean, degreased surface are the usual practice where a structural bond line is required. Where the part is potted or mechanically captured, unprimed application is often acceptable. Qualify the surface preparation on your actual substrate.
