Description
PR-1440 M Class A is a two-part polysulfide sealant cured with manganese dioxide, made by PPG Aerospace for aircraft integral fuel tanks. Once mixed it has a fluid, self-levelling consistency for brushing, and it cures at room temperature without shrinkage. PPG gives a service range of -55°C to 135°C, with intermittent excursions to 180°C.
The manufacturer describes it for brush sealing of fasteners in fuel tanks and for other aircraft fuselage sealing. PPG states the cured sealant keeps its elastomeric properties after prolonged exposure to jet fuel, aviation gas and phosphoric ester hydraulic fluids.
