Description
RTV142C is a two-component, room-temperature alkoxy-cure silicone paste that cures to a red elastomer with deliberately good release from the surfaces it contacts. That release behaviour makes it suited to sealing, damming and protecting features that must be uncovered again later, rather than to permanent structural bonding. It is specified as a low-outgassing grade, and the red colour makes coverage and subsequent removal easy to verify visually.

Should I use RTV142C as an adhesive?
No. It is formulated for release, so it is intended to come away cleanly rather than to develop and hold a permanent bond. Where you need the silicone to stay put structurally, use a bonding grade such as RTV142; use RTV142C where removability, reworkability or clean separation is the requirement.

RTV142 is a one-component thixotropic paste that cures with ambient moisture and is meant to stay bonded; RTV142C is supplied as two components that are mixed before application, cures independently of surface moisture access through the section, and releases from substrates.
