Description
RTV511 is a white, flowable two-part condensation-cure silicone that pours readily and cures at room temperature to a hard, dimensionally stable elastomer. Its long work life makes it well suited to large-volume potting, encapsulation and mould making where the mix must be de-aerated and poured before it begins to thicken, and the grade is rated for low-temperature service. Referenced against ASTM E595, with catalyst options available for tuning cure rate.

When should I use RTV511 instead of RTV577?
Both are white low-temperature condensation-cure grades. RTV511 is flowable and intended for pouring into cavities and moulds; RTV577 is a paste for non-sag application on vertical surfaces and for gap filling. RTV511 also cures considerably harder, so choose RTV577 where a more compliant seal is wanted.
Is the long work life of RTV511 an advantage for large pours?
Yes — it is the main reason to specify this grade. The extended work life gives time to mix, vacuum de-aerate and pour a large volume in one operation. Bear in mind that a long work life also means a slower rise to handling strength, so plan fixture time accordingly.
