Description
RTV566 is a red, low-outgassing two-part condensation-cure silicone that cures at room temperature and is intended for hardware exposed to vacuum, where condensable volatiles would contaminate optics, sensors or thermal surfaces. It shares the wide low- and high-temperature service intent of the red RTV560 family and is used for sealing, bonding and potting on spacecraft and instrument assemblies. The grade is referenced against ASTM E595 and is supplied with a single specified catalyst system.

Why are no alternative catalysts offered for RTV566?
The grade is supplied as a defined base and catalyst combination because the outgassing behaviour is a property of the cured system as a whole. Substituting catalysts would invalidate that behaviour, so work life is fixed and is shorter than the standard RTV560 system — plan mix batch sizes accordingly.
Does RTV566 still need a post-cure for vacuum work?
A thermal post-cure is standard practice for low-outgassing silicones before flight or vacuum-chamber use, since it drives off residual cure by-product and low-molecular-weight species. Follow the schedule given in the manufacturer's datasheet and your own programme requirements; the ASTM E595 reference describes the test method, not an approval Angad Aviation holds.
