Description
RTV577 is a white two-part condensation-cure silicone paste that cures at room temperature to a soft, compliant elastomer, with a moderate work life that suits hand application over a reasonable working area. It is used for non-sag sealing, component staking and gap filling on assemblies rated for low-temperature service, where flexibility matters more than strength. The grade is referenced against ASTM E595 and is supplied with a single specified catalyst.

What is the difference between RTV577 and RTV577LV?
RTV577LV is the low-outgassing version of the same white low-temperature paste, and it is the grade to specify for vacuum-exposed hardware. RTV577LV also develops higher tensile strength; hardness, elongation and work life are otherwise comparable. Where outgassing is not a requirement, RTV577 covers the same application.
Is RTV577 suitable for staking connectors and components?
Yes — a soft, non-slump paste of this type is a conventional choice for staking and strain relief, because the low cured hardness limits the stress transferred into leads and solder joints during thermal cycling. Surfaces should be clean and, where a genuine bond is needed rather than mechanical capture, primed.
