Description
RTV583 is a black, electrostatic dissipative two-part condensation-cure silicone paste that cures at room temperature to a soft elastomer, formulated to bleed off static charge rather than behave as an insulator. It is used for sealing, staking and gap filling on electronics and instrument hardware where charge accumulation on an insulating seal would be a hazard to sensitive devices. The grade is referenced against ASTM E595 and is supplied with a single specified catalyst.

Dissipative. It is formulated to allow accumulated static charge to bleed away in a controlled manner, not to act as an electrical conductor or a grounding path. Do not specify it as a shield, bond strap or current-carrying element; confirm the resistivity range on the manufacturer's datasheet against your ESD control requirement.
How should the short work life of RTV583 be managed?
This grade has the shortest work life of the low-temperature paste range and no alternative catalysts are offered, so mix in small batches sized to what can be applied and tooled within the working time. Have surfaces prepared, primed if required, and tooling ready before catalyst is added.
