Description
RTV8111 is a general-purpose two-part condensation-cure silicone supplied as a base and curing agent that are mixed before pouring. Because cure is driven by the curing agent rather than atmospheric moisture, it cures uniformly through thick, fully enclosed sections, which makes it suited to potting modules, encapsulating coils and connectors, and sealing deep cavities where a one-part grade would cure only at the surface. The grade is referenced against MIL-PRF-23586F and is typically used where a repairable, low-stress encapsulant is wanted rather than a rigid resin.

How is RTV8111 processed compared with a one-part RTV sealant?
It is a two-component system: base and curing agent are combined at the ratio given on the datasheet, mixed thoroughly and normally vacuum de-aired before pouring to avoid entrapped voids in the potted section. Working life begins at mixing, so batch only what can be dispensed within the pot life stated on the datasheet.
Is RTV8111 sensitive to cure inhibition from contaminants?
Condensation-cure silicones are generally far more tolerant than addition-cure systems, which can be poisoned by amines, sulfur and some plasticisers, so RTV8111 is a practical choice where the enclosure contents are mixed or unknown. Even so, surfaces should be clean and dry, since moisture and release agents in a cavity can affect adhesion and the finished surface.
